The University (Cal Poly) offers CEU's
to all PE Workshop participants which
can be used in your school district for pay schedule advancement.
Earned CEUs may help maintain
certification or licensure, or may document your continuing
professional development for an employer, association, or
credentialing agency.
Earning CEU's is completely optional and must be paid for
in advance, usually during formal check-in.
What is a CEU?
One (1) Continuing Education Unit (CEU) = ten
(10) contact hours of participation in organized
continuing education/training experience under
responsible, qualified direction and instruction
by definition of the International Association for
Continuing Education and Training (IACET). For each
ten contact hours of Workshop participation you will
receive one CEU. At the end of the workshop, you will
recieve a copy of your earned CEU's (paid through registration)
and once the university
processes your units, a sealed transcript will be sent to
the address on your registration form to be taken to your district office.
Attendance is required and will
be taken at all instructional sessions. In order to receive CEUs
the appropriate fee must be paid by the University's deadline, which
usually begins on the first day of registration/check-in and ends by Monday
or Tuesday. Check the message board or Daily Chatter for details of
where and when to pay. Cal Poly Continuing Education maintains
a record of the CEUs you have earned through our programs and
courses. CEUs are for non-credit courses or programs. They
cannot be converted to quarter or semester hour credit. Although
Continuing Education Units are widely accepted by school districts
in California and neighboring states, you should check with your
district before registering. You may pay for CEUs at the time of
registration. Retroactive units cannot be awarded. CEUs earned and
reflected on a Cal Poly transcript may be used towards the professional
growth requirements of your state. Refer to your state
Department of Education for more information.
